The Polonia Centre Academic Awards Program encourages and rewards young Polish Canadians to strive for and attain the finest education their talents will allow.  We seek candidates who display academic excellence and participate in extra-curricular activities thus making a positive contribution to their school as well as the Windsor and/or Polish community.

This year Polish Canadians from age 18 and up, with the valid Polish Passport and after completing the registration by May 13th on the Polish Government Website, would be able to vote in the upcoming Presidential Election – scheduled as listed: first round – on May 17th, second round (if necessary) – on May 31st, 2025 – at Dom Polski in Windsor Ontario, 1275 Langlois Ave, ON N8X 4L6.

For completing the required registration process  please go to the gov.pl/web/kanada. Links to the registration website  e-Wybory as well as the complete alphabetical list of the Polish Electoral Districts abroad are already active. In the first step – press the blue button “Rozpocznij Rejestracje”. In the next step you will need to register with your designated Electoral District (Obwod Wyborczy) – in this case with No 161 – Windsor ON). Have your valid Polish Passport and PESEL number ready. The deadline for submitting  the registration process is May 13.

We are very grateful for Sister’s presence here in Windsor during the last 60 years. On February 7, 2024, the Canadian Parliament approved Motion M-75, establishing May as Polish Heritage Month and May 3rd as Polish Constitution Day in Canada. YEAS 328, NAYS 0. A great success for our current and future generations.

On February 1, 2024, Private Members’ Business on Polish Heritage Month in Canada, Motion M-75, was debated by MPs in the House of Commons. It was a pleasure to hear some impressive opinions about the major contribution of Canadians of Polish heritage, who built a better Canada.

Since 1978 Polonia Centre (Windsor) Inc. has been committed to promoting Polish culture and traditions, supporting activities within Polonia and to help make it successful within our Canadian Society. The Academic Awards Program was established in 1981 to encourage and support students of our Polish Community in their pursuit of higher education. Undergraduate students Vanessa Udron and Madison Uszynski and Graduate student Natalia Glinski shared in a total of $10,000.

Assumption University is one of the Registered Charities that we’ve selected this year. A $20,000 donation will facilitate an annual “Polonia Centre Scholarship” to a successful candidate pursuing a course in “Inter-Faith Studies. The use of funds in charitable giving confirms our support of education and is in line with our annual Academic Awards, support of Polish School Windsor and local libraries.

80 years ago in Canada…

On October 1st, 2023 one of the oldest Polish-Canadian Organizations in our area – Polish Alliance of Canada – Branch 20th in Windsor  celebrated  its 80-th Anniversary.

Polonia of Windsor Essex would like to extend the best wishes on the occasion of this remarkable 80th Jubilee.
