Polish Canadian Women’s Federation (Branch 20)

Brief History and Mission Statement

Polish Canadian Woman’s Federation was founded by Jadwiga Dobrucka in 1956 in order to organize women of Polish origin for the purpose of preserving Polish cultural values, making positive contributions to Canadian society,  protecting and responding to women and family issues. We work toward upholding our Polish culture while helping new immigrants integrate into the Canadian culture.

The organization is charitable in character based on democratic and Christian principles. Since 1956, our organization has grown to 20 branches across Canada. Our Branch number 20 was established in Windsor in January  2003. In order to get necessary funds to carry out our plans, we organize many activities. Some of these activities include:
Every year our branch is organizing a Talent Show for local Polish children. The children can show their talent in: painting, sculpture, writing, etc. Every second year were are organizing “Pasta Night for Cure.” We donate the profits from this event to a local Cancer Centre.
We are also providing help to our local women and children in time of crisis. We are supporting “House for Single Mothers” in Elblag, Poland and Polish schools in Ukraine, especially in Bykowka region.
Very often our members are working as volunteers helping in Dom Polski and Carrousel of the Nations. Our last events was participating in the cleaning of the Polish Beach in Colchester on Lake Erie and having the arts/paint workshop for adults and children under the supervision of our member, who carries master degree in arts.
